The Blog of the United Nations Foundation
Commercial entities are not the only ones to use blogs to start a discussion with their customers. Many associations are doing the same.
One of the latest is the United Nations Foundation which started UN Dispatch on February 2, 2005 “to promote thoughtful discussion about the UN, and to provide an outlet for important news and views on the UN.”
These days, this blog is partially written by National Football league players from the New York Giants, who are involved in the UN World Food Programme in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, to help the victims of the tsunami of last December. They’re not only helping for food distribution or houses reconstruction. They also want that adolescents have fun again, as shows this quote extracted from a note published on February 15.
Our first activity of the day was a football demonstration at the University of Banda Aceh Park with 60 boys and girls from a local internally displaced people (IDP) camp. Sharing a field with several cows and numerous dragonflies, Kurt, Amani taught the boys how to throw and catch the football, while Brenda and Yola did the same with the girls.
This blog is administered by Peter Daou, author of the Daou Report, which has now been picked by the online magazine Salon.com.
