The 2005 Business Blogging Awards

It was bound to happen. After the various blogging awards, here is the first edition of the Business Blogging Awards.

This initiative was started by Darren Barefoot, who is a writer and a marketer, has his blog for 4 years now and started several companies in Vancouver, Canada, where he lives.

Incidentally, he likes to write about technology and mentioned several times my other blog, Roland Piquepaille’s Technology Trends. For example, here is what he wrote on January 16, 2005.

The always fascinating Roland Piquepaille writes about counting elephants from space.

If he can write this, I guess you can trust him :-)

Darren also created InsideBlogging with Jeremy Wright to help companies to integrate blogs in their strategies of communication.

In case you don’t know Jeremy Wright, he writes the well-respected Ensight blog. And he was the first blogger to auction himself on eBay. Here is was his offering.

This auction allows you to utilize this blogger for 3 months. He will produce between 5-10 posts a week. In addition, the blogger will work with you to see what potential there is for blogging for you and your company - in effect acting as a blogging consultant for you for the period.

The auction ended on December 3, 2004, but it landed $3,350 for Jeremy.

Now, let’s go back to the awards. You can vote in twenty different categories and there are between 4 and 6 nominees per category. If you want to vote in all the categories — which implies to visit about one hundred blogs — the deadline is February 16, 2005.

When will we run such a contest in other languages? I’m going to think about it and coming back to you with some proposals in some weeks — or months. In the mean time, please express your own ideas by posting comments.
